What shampoo do you use?

NosyRosie on Grooming - Sun, January 13 2008

Since there are quite of few pets out there in IP land that have been bathed lately, I was wondering...What shampoo do you use? We have been using the same bottle for a few years and we're finally getting towards the last few drops. It's something we got in a pinch for Freckles on a Sunday evening once when she got into something stinky. It's Pet Botanics Oatmeal shampoo that we picked up from Meijer.

We don't bathe Freckles too often, and when we do it's because she needs it and it can't wait for a spa day. Maggie requires a nano-ounce of shampoo.

I found a few homemade recipes for pet shampoo online and it's tempting to try. Any input is appreciated!

Funny you should ask. Both of my dogs got baths today. I use Cardinal's Gold Medal Pets in Clean Scent. There is a Collie on the front. I like it because it is tearless and I can still smell it on my dogs for a couple of weeks. It really gets rid of the odors.

On the rare (thank Dog) occasions that we get bathed, we suds up with Mango Tango by Earth Botanicals or something like that. If we get into something smelly we get spritzed with spritz stuff from the same company.

Mom uses Dermal Soothe Anti Itch Shampoo because Linus is a huge ball of scratchiness. We both get our baths with it when mom can't take the Basset odor.

We use HyLyt shampoo. I usually get it from the vet or online. It's Soap-free Hypoallergenic moisturizing shampoo. Ojo can get sensitive skin if too much soap is on her and with Scout's allergies, we just kept with it. White dogs tend to get more frequent baths than others.

Freckles gets spritzed with HappyTails Spa Dry Dog freshener in between baths. Smells like Kiwi with a little Basset mixed in.

We use Lambert-Kay Fresh Clean Scent. Honestly, it smells like roses! I LOVE to kiss them on their heads and they smell SO good after they dry. "The scent lasts for weeks"! I also use the conditioner. It can be left on or rinsed off. I leave it on Kirby and Hoover and rinse it off of Lola.

Mama uses puppy shampoo on me 'cause it's no tears. I guess she uses it on all the doggies in the house, but I'm not positive 'cause I run and hide behind the sewing machine when the others are getting baths, so she won't get the same idea about me.

my favorite shampoos are BEST SHOT, a great one for any dog that sheds.(helps bring out dead coat) they also have a good medicated shampoo, called MED, and the other is called LEMON AIDE. awesome shampoos! my other favorite brand is NATURE'S SPECIALTIES. they have a great line of colognes, the baby powder scent is my favorite. they also have a plum scented one, it's great, too! i love their golden hypo aloe shampoo, and their berry gentle tearless is great, and smells really good, too. those are all shampoos that i use on clients dogs, and on my own dogs, too. :)

I have to get a bath once a week, or I get really itchy. Mom uses Fresh N Clean oatmeal and aloe first, and then lathers me up a 2nd time with EpiSoothe. She gets that from the vet. It's for itchy skin. Minnie is the lucky one, she hardly ever needs a bath!! When she gets one, she doesn't have to use the EpiSoothe. She just gets lathered once. That is just not fair!

We use a bar soap called, now don't laugh, Dog Poo. It has citronella in it which helps to keep off the bugs in the summer! Note - a few dogs may be allergic, but haven't run into many.

Momma just started using Cain and Able shampoo on me. It smells so good and it didn't dry out my skin!

Would you please stop saying that "b" word! I can just feel that its almost time for me....we use some blue-colored creamy stuff that is for White Dogs...smells great. One time Rex got a shower with his boy, and he used Mom's Vicki's Secret scented shampoo! Ewww...he smelled like a GIRL!!

Since the Princess has long, flowing tresses, she gets shampooed with the very best: Duurstede Grooming Products. It's a four-step process of shampoo, conditioner with a special secret additive that's mixed in and finally a revitalizer. It's made in Canada and purchased over the internet. It's used on some show dogs and the results are simply splendiferous! Max has to use a special medicated shampoo for the "pimples" on his back.

We both get our heads and beards cleaned with Johnson's Baby Shampoo for the no-tears. To top everything off, mom puts a few drops of emu oil in her hands and slicks down our coats. She said she likes the way our fur "swings" when we run.

Kirby, I never realized you and your brother were named after vacuum cleaners! Mom thinks that's cute.

Wow, Emma, you're sort of high maintenance. I guess that is why you are the Princess of CasseroleLand?
