Wow, tragic. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'd be VERY ticked off if I had made arrangements to come and get my dog and they killed it before I could get there. BUT if they couldn't afford the recovery fees, how could tehy afford the upkeep on the dog?! Plus, using a mixed breed dog to delibrately breed even MORE mixed breed dogs is just stupid in my opinion. The shelters are already full enough with mixed breed dogs, why breed more?

I am a cynic and this sounds like a ploy by the owners to make some money via lawsuit. The only one I feel sorry for is Amicus.

I feel VERY sorry for the dog. Its not the dog's fault. Its always the people!!! Sometimes, members of our species are so stupid! ARGH!!!

I would not give these people a dime. Asking that much money and saying "the only thing they can do now is give me money." No amount of money would make Batman's death bearable. It was a mistake, and I would sure as heck make sure the shelter fixed its policies, but to ask for all that money? jeez this is beyond stupid. I wonder if these people have children. I'm not sure they should breed.
