raiseing money for flood victims

Myra on Activities - Wed, June 11 2008

Hello everyone! As I read the different posts of whos doing what or wants to do in raiseing money to help the flood victims,I thought of something that I would like your ideas or opinions on please.I have thought about trying to organize a dog wash free of charge, but ask for donations and tell what the money is going to.It could be held in a parking lot somewhere (maybe at my Church on the east side)where they can drive in,have their dog or dogs bathed right there out side by volunteers, and drive out.I REALLY want to do this, but I cant do it myself! If I can get it togeather, I was thinking possible Sun.the 21st.Please let me know what all of you think! Thank -you

I would love to help with something like that. Maybe we can give proceeds to the Lil Bit of Heaven Rescue Shelter in Martinsville. By the way, I'm coordinating volunteer efforts for my office so I called the Morgan County EMA this morning to ask if they were ready for volunteers to assist with cleanup. They aren't at that stage yet, but they let me know they'd call when they're ready. Right now, financial donations to the Red Cross is the best option, she advised.

I'm working on pulling together a number of agencies and businesses to see what the Indianapolis pet community can do to help. The affected groups will eventually need food, bedding, meds, and other supplies. Stay tuned . . . when we get everything coordinated, I'll let you all know.
