I went to training

Lexie -- foster dog on Activities - Sat, June 28 2008

Since Batman's chiropractor says he has to take 3 weeks off, I got to go to dog training today. Foster Mom said I could see if I could learn to track. She laid down a bunch of hot dogs on the ground and said I could eat them. Boy, that was FUN.

Then, I got to do some obedience work, but there was so much to see and smell that it was really hard.

Next we went to a place where there was lots of dogs barking. I didn't get to go see what they were doing 'cause FM says I'm just not the right kind of dog to play bite sleeve games. But, later I got to meet some people and if I came up to them and sat in front of them, they gave me MORE hot dogs.

I even said they could touch me after I found out that I could get a hot dog next.

I get to go to training any time FM goes now because I am a GOOD DOG and sit quietly in my crate until it is my turn to play.

But, if you ask me, that Batman is such a mamma's boy. I don't think anything is wrong with his back. He sure was mad that he didn't get to do bite work. I sure hope FM didn't see me stick my tongue out at The Bat when I got to go do training stuff and he had to sit in the van.

Lexie...it sounds like you are doing great with your FM.
I know there are rules you have to follow but it will make you a much better dog and you will find your forever home. I give a big beagle hug to you and to your FM....and one for Batman for sharing his mom with you.

Shoot, I might be game for a few tricks if I'd get hotdogs...

Kirby, you'd be happy to do training even if the class area was covered in poop!! Hot dogs would be incidental!

Mom just read a training book today where the trainer lady was working with her dog outside trying to find out what was the "high value" treat for this dog. Know what it was? Sheep Poop! Yep - she took it and broke it into little pieces to use for training. Ewwww to me but she said it's mostly grass.

I am so glad my dogs think hot dogs are high value!
