Pet owners prefer McCain over Obama

PurdueMatt on Health - Tue, July 08 2008

An AP-Yahoo News poll found that pet owners favor McCain over Obama 42 percent to 37 percent, with dog owners particularly in McCain's corner.

Barack Obama doesn't have a pet at home.

McCain has a veritable menagerie, including Sam the English springer spaniel, Coco the mutt, turtles Cuff and Link, Oreo the black and white cat, a ferret, three parakeets and a bunch of saltwater fish.

Not this pet owner! I nearly cried when I saw the picture of Baby (the 3-legged, debarked puppy mill rescue whose owner is speaking at the Rally tomorrow) posing with Barack in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

Just because a person doesn't have a pet at a particular point in time, it doesn't mean that they don't care about animals. I mean, when you spend the better part of 2 years on the campaign trail, wouldn't pets left at home get lonely?

I'm with you, Medley. I figure 42%, 37%, not much of a gap there anyway.

As much as I love my pets, it doesn't make me a good candidate to be president, Dog forbid. I plan to vote for the person I think has the best plan for getting us out of the mess this country is in.

Go McCain! Sorry...I'm not a fan of Barack....

It's not a basis for choosing who to vote for, just an interesting poll I wanted to pass along.

This country is not in a mess. It is called the business cycle....every 8 years or so the economy slows down to cure the excesses of our capitalist economy. Bush has done a great job preventing a recession in favor of a brief slowdown.

It does feel like it's a mess, but then again, it does feel like that about every 8 years when we've had the same party in control for those 8 years. Not a good thing, not a bad thing...just the way it is in my opinion. The vicissitudes of life!

I read an interview with Barack, and that was his standpoint. His daughters approved of him running for president if they got a dog out of the deal. He's waiting until campaigning is over, which is the most responsible thing to do. That made me like him even more.

Well, I wasn't asked and I would have counted for two votes because I have two doggies, right?, and I prefer Obama.

I don't like either of them either. Guess I'm going to have to decide, but I really feel like I'm voting for the lesser of two evils.

Ojo, Maybe you could run for president! You are a pawsome spokes dog and you understand how to play nice with other dogs. I would vote for you!

This country isn't a mess. The large male biped travelled into the former East Germany a couple months after Gorbachev gave up, and trust me, we are NOT screwed up.

Personally, I'm for Obama.

But just because I'm too young to vote doesn't mean I don't research the canidates and think about who is more likely to help this country.

You have done alot more than what most people who are old enough to vote have done. I work for a large manufacturing company and we have a huge influx of people from the Chicago/Gary area here in Lafayette andit infuriates me to hear people say that they are going to vote for Obama just because he's black. They have no clue what his stand is on ANY issues but yet I fear this is going to happen alot.

Now me personally, am very torn. I don't care for either candidate and feel like Marci that I am going to have to vote for the lesser of 2 evils.
