Canine Good Citizen

Beverly on Training - Tue, July 08 2008

I heard mom talking to Mama Muttblood about the Canine Good Citizen test. She just looked it up online and says we're going to start training for it. I know some of the stuff already. After reading through it, mom is most concerned about me pulling on my leash. I have an Easy Walk harness because I pull, but mom says I have to take the test in my collar. I REALLY like to pull mom around with that! She says it's going to take a lot of work to try to correct that behavior, but we're going to try.

I'm not as bad as Minnie though. She is not even close to being a good citizen! Mom tried to take us for a walk with my friend, Madeleine, and Minnie barked and jumped at her! How RUDE! I was so embarrassed! Mom and Mama Muttblood worked with Minnie for a little bit to try to get her to be polite to Maddie. Mom says she is dog selective because afterwards mom took her for a walk and she was polite to a few other dogs. Mom wants to work with Minnie so she can be a Canine Good Citizen too. I say - Good luck on that, Mom!

Oh, SHUT UP, Beverly! Ms. Perfect Butt! If it weren't for me, you would have foster dogs coming out your ears!

I just got my Canine Good citizen. I know you can do it! Mom did a formal heel, which I'm very good at, I am NOT good at walking on a loose leash. But, heeling is just fine with me.

Hey my Beautiful gal, I know you can do it with your paws crost behind your back. I past it last year myself, and Minnie she does have the perfect butt or she would not be my girl. Dad said he ran into your grandmaw today and had fun talking. Hopefully I will see you this SAT.

Good luck, Beverly. Mom's been trying to squeeze in some practice for me to do this too!

CGC is a breeze! Go for it! I hate to admit it, but my little brother Royce got his at just 7 months old. (What a show off) I actually though the hardest part was the separation from my owner. I know they wouldn't leave me, but what the heck was I missing?

Beverly, don't sweat it about Minnie. I just ignored her. I was much more interested in the squirt cheese that your mom was squeezing into her mouth. I know what you mean about Minnie's behavior reflecting badly on your whole pack...after all, I do have Sydney to deal with. She gives us all a bad name. I like your big backyard. Can I come over and run again sometime?
