Geese Wrangling

Sydney on Activities - Sun, August 10 2008

Yesterday when we were out Cesaring there was a flock of geese dithering back and forth across 62nd Street. First a couple of them would make it across, but their peeps wouldn't come with them, so they would fly back and try to honk some sense into them. It was going NOWHERE until I arrived on the scene. Traffic was backed up and humans were getting surly, so mom took me over in the street (on my leash, of course) and told me to "Get 'em Sydney! Make 'em fly!" She wanted them the flock out of there, so they wouldn't hang around leaving goose poop in our yard or the neighbors' yards, so she let me lunge at them really hard! It was so much fun! We had to do it several times because the geese are so stupid and wanted to all be on the same side of the street at the same time. Maddie was there, too, but she wasn't much help, as she can't manage to look nearly as fierce as I can, and she has those little short legs. My teeth were snapping and I was barking my fool head off at those geese. I won't even tell you what I said to them. They finally flew and waddled off somewhere. There isn't any water around our house, so I don't know what they were thinking to begin with, but I helped them avoid being goose road kill and wrangled them on their merry way so our neighborhood was goose safe.

Mom said that there were gees all over the church yard this morning. Gosh I wish I would have been there...

Let me at 'em too, Syd! That sounds like great fun - although it would have been more fun without that leash on - wahoooooooo birdies! Mom said I have a way of clearing a room. Ojo probably would have sat down to play cards with them. Congrats, Syd.

Oh...Penny and I could have helped with that. We have fierce barks and we love to chase birds.

Deuce is like Ojo. He probably would have tried to socialize with them.

I know where they went!! I saw them at the end of our street when we were out Cesaring tonight! Mom was surprised because Minnie and I didn't make a peep. We just looked at them as we walked by. Mom thought maybe we would try to get them or something, but we didn't bother. It was the end of our walk and our tongues were hanging. We were tired!!

Ohhh, I wish I could have been there to help you out. Chasing birds, is my #1 thing to do. Could you send some of your stupid birds my way? Most of the birds around here stay out of the yard now.

We're not talking robins, here, Charlie. These geese were REALLY big! Wouldn't it be fun to pack up on them?????
