You might try something like reunion.com. Do you know what this person might do for a living? You might try some of the sites like plaxo.com or linkedin.com

Don't forget face book. You can also try whitepages.com unless of course the person's name is something like Tom Smith ,which might take a long time to sift through.

I sometimes have luck just googling the name.

Unfortunately, most search engines work best if you can narrow down the state or city because, as you proved to yourself, you'll get more false positives than accuracy.

That being said: anywho.com, wink.com, or whitepages.com (reverse lookup last known phone number for leads).

Wow Monica, back when I was dating I wished I knew someone who could check people out. Do you check up on people who might want to adopt a dog?

I can if you give me some info. I actually found out that a friend of mine was dating a guy that was wanted on the East Coast. I found news stories about him and everything. I had to tell her and we had to go talk to the police but nobody would extradite him so I'm sure he's still off scamming lonely women. I did investigate my hubby on line before we ever went on a date. Always good to do your homework. Google is your friend.
PS I did find some info and send it to Lynn so hopefully she can get this resolved.
