Today's the big day

Dachsaholic on My Blog - Tue, September 09 2008

I have my interview this morning at 11 with the Humane Society of Hamilton County. I'm so excited about it!! I hope everything goes great and that I don't make a fool of myself. I have reference letters from several people including the founder of Wags and someone that has worked for me and now works at one of my vets' office. I've got all my papers together to take with me. Now I've just got to get in the shower and get going. Please keep your fingers and paws crossed for me. This could be the best job ever!!!!!

GOOD LUCK, MONICA!!!! I just got back from taking mama and her kitties up there. I talked to a lady that works in the office and told her you were coming up for an interview. I told her how wonderful you are and how you do SO much for animals. And, I told her that it was you who got us into fostering with Wag's and how thankful I was for that. I really hope you get it, they would be so lucky to have you.

So. How did it go? Were they nice to you? One of mom's old boyfriends worked at the Bloomington animal shelter like a million years ago. They didn't let staff adopt pets from the shelter....seemed like a good idea, otherwise, the animal control would eventually be raiding the employees for too many pets...etc.

Mom works for prison, it's like a no-kill shelter for people with behavior problems that need to be fostered. They don't let her bring home "pets" either. Proly a good thing.....

Well I lived through it and didn't puke on anybody so that's good. I think I was less dorky than usual(I tried hard). She seemed to like my resume and references. I am lacking in neonatal kitten care(they apparently have a lot of bottle fed kittens) and knowledge of immunology(but I research everything for my own pets). Other than that, I was qualified. Now I have to write a one page paper about separation anxiety and turn it in to her by Friday. Then I guess I'll hear something next week if I get another interview. If really really really wanting it would make it happen, I would already be hired:-) I told her how impressed I always am with the cleanliness of the kennels and lack of any kind of smell. Showed Scamper's pics to help out too(since we're fostering him from there). I think it went well overall so I think I'm still in the running! thanks for the good thoughts and prayers-keep them coming!!!!

Glad to hear that you didn't puke, and I'm sure you made a very positive impression on them. Heck, you impress me, and I'm not easy to impress! Did they give you a timeline on making a decision?

Our mom works at a psychiatric facility. They don't let her bring pets home either.
