Steve Talley resigns

Connie on Activities - Thu, September 11 2008

Check out the IndyStar.com. Steve Talley, Administrator at Indianapolis Animal Care and Control resigned this morning!

The morning after a report by investigators that things were not as they should be at the shelter!

Happy day for the animals!

I was just reading the article in today's paper where he expressed doubts about whether or not he was suited for the job. It makes me wonder what he thought he was getting into versus what the reality of the job was.

It appears that over the past few years, city administrators didn't take the role of shelter director with the seriousness that they should have. ACC has had at least four different directors in the last five years, none of whom have had shelter-running experience. It would be interesting to know if these folks were moved in this position by the city, or if they actually applied for the job.

I saw on Fox 59 last night that the grievances were substantiated, which is both wonderful and tragic. I will keep my fingers crossed that whomever is installed in this position next will help ensure those kinds of things NEVER happen again.

my guess would be they were moved into the job. That's how so many government jobs seem to work.

I'm still in shock! I think Mr. Talley is a nice man who was just in over his head. I think he did the right thing, and I am really impressed. Now, I'm concerned about who they will put in charge. I hope things get better for the animals.
