Much excitement @ our house!

Alvin on Activities - Mon, September 15 2008

Yesterday afternoon was an exciting time... Actually, more exciting that it needed to be.

A local stray (who has been neutered and vaccinated) was munching away at the food mom left out for him when two big dogs (1 brown, 1 black... looked to be pit-mixes) cornered him up against the patio door.

Mom ran over and started banging on the window to try and get them to run off. The black dog back away as mom tried to get the patio door open (it sticks) while still pounding. As the door opened, the black do ran off, but the brown one held his ground... The cat managed to get away at the same time the black dog ran, then the brown dog started eating the cat's food.

Mom grabbed hold of the "naughty kitty" water spray bottle and let the brown dog have it as fast as she could squirt in the face/eyes. FINALLY it left! She went outside and found the cat was shaken, but unharmed. A neighbor had also been trying to shoo the dogs away, so she met another cat person who said she'd be willing to put out a little shelter for the cat so he'd have more warm/dry places to hide this winter (mom has a small, insulated dog house on her porch already).

WHEW! Too close!

I'd have been freaked OUT!! I'm glad the kitty is ok. Some dogs get pretty territorial over food, I know I live with Hoover. He has "issues"..

Wow, I think I would have been totally freaked out. Glad the kitty was okay and that the neighbor decided to help out too.

That sounds terrifying, Alvin. I'm glad the kitty is okay. I bet your mom was pretty fierce with her squirt bottle!

Be glad they were Pits and not Chows...we lost an outie-kitty to a pair of chows that tug twisted him. I know pits are scary to humans, but they aren't people agressive for the most part. Well, okay, there was the resource issue....cat food, yum....guess you can't blame the boys for trying.

We have heated milk crates with flannel shirts for our outie-cats.
