Snooty neighbor dog

Lola on Behavior - Fri, September 26 2008

Mom always takes me with her to walk sis to the bus stop (well...not TO the bus stop, that's not cool). Mom and I stand with other parents while we watch the kids from a block away.

Well, those of you who have been to my house may remember the collie that lives next door to me, her name is Isabelle. She is very pretty and about 4 years old. Today she came to the not-the-bus-stop place with her family. 'K, ready for this?!? She totally SNUBBED ME! Literally! She wouldn't even look at me!! She put her long snout in the air and looked the other way!

I thought maybe she was mad since she wasn't invited to play last week, so I explained that she was too big for all of us small dogs. Whatever, she just IGNORED ME. I KNOW!

Then, as we were walking back to our houses, I tried to get her to play with me. I was hopping all around, talking to her, trying to get her into a game of chase but instead, she acted like I was some sort of vermine, dodging from side to side to avoid me. Mama said, "She doesn't play much does she?" and her mom said, "Well, she plays with us, sometimes". Can you believe it?!?! This poor dog is alone all day and doesn't care to play or even know how to interact with other dogs. Serioulsy, who wouldn't want to play with me?? The only thing her parents want to do with her is show us how good her manners are when I'm around and barking my fool head off, in a way to show me up. BOOOORING!! They didn't teach her those manners, anyway. She CAME trained.

Excuse me for getting my panties in a bunch but I've never had a dog treat me like I was dirt before! Yes, she's pretty to look at, but friends, there's no personality there at all. Poor gal.

I want to tell all of my BFFs and MMD friends out there how much we LOVE to have you all over to PLAY! I'm so thankful that my family takes the time to play with us and have some good old stinkin' fun.

PLAYING RULES! So do girls and BFFs....

Oh well, it's Isabelle's loss. She did look awfully lonely in her yard the other day. Too bad she's not social. Guess she's a "trophy dog?"

Well, some dogs are like that. I personally disdain manners. I'm philosophically opposed to them. Playing is what we're supposed to do. Someone forgot to tell Isabelle.

um...I'm a bit socially challenged until my ball comes out. Roo has different issues that prevents her from play dates right now.

Mom said it's not Izzy's fault -- it's her parents fault for thinking that she doesn't need to socialize or play. Kind of like kids who are taught to be adults from age 2 struggle in play dates.

And Lola, um... wasn't she the one barking during your party while you were snoozing up on a chair? Seems that those manners aren't always perfected.

You are right. It's not her fault, and I do feel bad for her. I think she's lonley. And she does bark. A lot. 'Specially in the morning!

Playing is for babies... Can't everyone just settle for a good butt sniffing and call it a day?

Don't mind my brother - he's a dud! I would have played with you, Lola. I think you're pretty!

I love to play, like, constantly. We have a neighbor Schnauzer who is a dull boy & when he does come sniff us, his parents call him away. Party Poopers!!!!

I can't imagine not wanting to play with you....even though I'm older, I still love a good sniffin' and maybe a slow game of chase...I wear out a little quicker these days. But when I was a youngster, like you, I could hold my own in a good game of chase. I bet Izzy is lonely too....you have a great family, Lola....and it shows, 'cause you are a happy doggie.

When walking on the street, we're taught to ignore other dogs. However, in the right setting, I'm friendly enough, just not the Jack Russel type of friendly. A nice sniff and wag will do for the queen.

Yeah, I ignore dogs on the street, too. At the Pyr Romps, however, I can be rowdy and playful. The other dogs are my same size, all over 100 lbs, and can take the rough and tumble.

The Princess begs your pardon!

While Lola is lovely and at least two songs have been written for her, (Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets..." from Damn Yankees and "Lola, loo loo loo loo, Lola, L-O-L-A, Lola..." there are other lovely ladies here on IP... including MOI! ME!

The Princess will accept your apology.

There, there lovely Lola. You must understand that the neighbor dog is insecure and not very sociable. Why, there have been times when the Princess has deigned to ignore others. Don't look at it as her ignoring YOU, she was ignoring EVERYONE!

Pay her no mind. The next time you see her, remain your own ladylike self. If she chooses not to speak, simply smile and take the high road. Perhaps in time she will learn.
Toodles!

Personally I hate to be ignored. I'm friendly with everyone. Mom says I never meet a stranger. I think everybody should love me and pat me on the head and scratch me behind BOTH ears and give me treats. The problem is, not everyone agrees with. Don't worry, it's her loss.
