Kim,
I think you might be right about her being pregnant.
I know it's disturbing (to some), but the vets will remove the unborn puppies when they spay her if we can get her healthy enough to undergo surgery safely before she is too far along. Are her nipples distended or swollen?
I should be able to stop in today to bring the deworming (for all your dogs, it won't hurt and only help:) and the food.
Is 1030am or 515pm better for you?
My husband works the early shift this week and I would prefer to be home as early as possible this evening to be able to see him:)
(I'm in class from 1130am to 430pm)
I will be able to come back again Thursday night once I have the Parvo test (they are in the mail) and the vaccines for all.

I can only do the 5 way (destemper, parvo, parainfluenza, hepatitis, leptovirus), not the Rabies and the bordatella (kennel cough).

Only a vet can administer Rabies.
Call me when you can so we can discuss this more:)

Thanks again for your willingness to help penelope, your updates, and for caring so much:)

I am NOT disturbed by the idea of my dear little foundling being relieved of the unwanted responsability of motherhood. She is in no shape to take good care of puppies.... In such instances, I am rather comfortable in making hard decisions and taking any moral fallout that results. If I go to hell for destroying sacred life, so be it. I'm afraid her nipples do stick out a bit, but there is no softness around them. Her rump bone on the right side has rubbed through the skin from the inside. I am putting A&D salve on it, but it looks kind of bad. If it doesn't scab over by tomorrow, I'll think about taking her to the vet. (Any suggestions?)

I have administered the first dose of wormer. She liked it. (How soon should I expect the explosion? Or is it "gentle"?) I was really hoping for an answer on the Parvo question today.....she's worming her way into my softest of hearts, and that is about the only thing that is still keeping my defenses intact. She has slowed down on eating....but then, the big dogs don't really LIKE this Alpo....so maybe it's the food. She did eat a handful of cat food a few minutes ago. I love it when she goes to sleep on my chest and is so relaxed that she slides off. It is like having an infant nurse. KIM
