Stray cat (not feral) who to call?

Gracie's Dad on Lost Pets - Fri, July 03 2009

There is a cat that has adopted the driveway of my hotel.
He is very young, and although timid, very friendly.
He is very skinny though (probably worms?).
I would like to find someone or someplace that would take care of him.

Who should i call?
Who would you call?

You could try calling your local animal shelter. If you live in Marion County Indianapolis Animal Care and Control is who takes in strays. The humane society no longer takes them in. As a volunteer for IACC, however, I know they are overwhelmed with the number of unwanted/unclaimed animals at this time. You could try taking him to a vet to see if he's microchipped. I don't know if any other small rescue organizations take in strays, but you could try contacting them, and they may be able to direct you somewhere. Even though the cat isn't feral Indy Feral may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck.

HSI DOES take in strays and will hold them for the stray period if there isn't room at IACC. There's several strays on the adoption floor right now...
