I have called and left several messages with their volunteer cordinator, with no luck.
Anyone have any advice?

I know sometimes Shawna can be busy and takes a while to reply... but you can try sending a PM to one of these profiles:

They're both used by other HSI staffers and they may be able to help, or prod someone along... ;)

Shawna is really swamped these days. We have a junior volunteer program in the summer and it is pretty crazy trying to corral 20 children at the same time and make sure their experience is rewarding for both them and the animals.

Due to her busy schedule, she won't likely be able to do an individual training session so signing up for the end of the month session is probably your best bet.

It's a 32,000 square foot facility (big) and we need to train all of the volunteers and match them to the task they want to do, all while keeping everyone safe and the animals healthy.

Thank you for your interest in helping. It is much appreciated!

a friend's daughter is in the volunteer program and she adores it . She is 10 and wants to be a vet now. She loves to pet the kitties . I wish all shelters had your program !!
