Why I hate fireworks....

Amber on Activities - Fri, July 03 2009

Sorry I haven't been around, just been busy adjusting to baby lol! But, I'd now like to vent about fireworks...

1. They really don't seem to be about the 4th anymore. They start in June, and end in Mid July. Am I so wrong to think that July 3-5 are appropriate firework days, anything else is just unreasonable?

2. Poor Eddie just doesn't understand what they are and ends up shaking every night.

3. When you have a screaming baby that FINALLY goes to sleep at 10:30, is it really too much to ask that the fireworks be done after 11?

4. Now Eddie not only hides under the bed (as usual), but after each boom he goes to the nursery and checks on Connor, comes back to under the bed. The poor dog's up every 5 minutes!

5. NO ONE pics up after them. Whoever sets them off just leaves the debris wherever it lies so that some poor dog owner gets the privelage of digging it out of their dog's mouth.

ANyone else feel the same or am I just REALLY sleep deprived and cranky?

I'm sure that you are very sleepy and a little cranky!! LOL! You are right though that people do NOT pick up after they are done and they can make a MESS!

Poor Eddie..he's now afraid for himself AND his baby brother.

That is so cute that Eddie goes to check on Connor. I like to watch the big fireworks, but I really hate how they make both of my boys a nervous wreck.

L: our house feels the same. Grew up having to go someplace to watch them (they were illegal in MN and not sold anywhere) so all these stands that sell around here is still odd to me.

I agree 100%....I like fireworks to see and to shoot, but like you said....it should be confined to the 4th and New Year's Eve at midnight...and if I would hit the lottery for big money. I digress....on the 4th we should all have had our fun by 10 pm. Amen.

p.s. That's adorable about Eddie checking on Connor....such fine boys you have, Amber!

You're right. Last year we were driving home from downtown and I was oohing and aaahing over a really cool display as we approached our home. Turned out the neighbors decided to use our driveway since we weren't home. I'm sure the dogs were freaking out and there was a huge mess. I think part of Momma Coco's problem has been the fireworks as well. I love them but people have not respect or common sense any more.

I hate 'em too - especially the cost - 23 miniutes = S30,000 wow we could do allot of great things with that kind of cash !

It is very noisy in my neighborhood right now. Daisy is a nervous wreck and Louise is calm. I hate the fireworks.

My neighbors are very rude....

I agree about Fireworks days should be July 3-4 and no other times.
The loud boom makes me afraid then I start barking which makes Mom and Dad crazy.
4th of July should be over soon.
There is a bright side the BBQ smell when food is being grilled.

We haven't bought fireworks since the kids were young. We have enough neighbors that do fireworks and live close to Lawrence park that we can see many for free. Hubby and I went to Costco's yesterday and saw people buying $100+ worth of fireworks. They must have way too much money to spend like that.

We were at Costco earlier in the week and were shocked that people were paying $250 for gigantic fireworks packages for what I call "driveway fireworks."

Maggie gets suspicious whenever there's a boom. Tilly is fascinated. And I'm freaked out because who knows if someone's going to shoot off a gun and it hits Tilly while she's on the deck at night watching the fireworks???

Amber you live near me, so I know the fireworks you're talking about...obnoxious!!
