My, we are busy IP bloggers today! I called the Broad Ripple Park Family Center, which is the big building on the left as you drive into the park. They have a room that will hold between 60-80 people that rents for $25/hour. That includes tables and chairs. There is no kitchen, but food may be served and consumed there. The room is available from 9AM-1PM, but that includes setup and cleanup time. She was very clear that they lock the doors promptly at 1PM. The upcoming dates the room is available are 12/8 and 12/15. I just asked about Saturdays, because it seems that more people could come then. If y'all are interested I will need to go by and sign a contract (yikes!) and give them a deposit. I was thinking that we could combine this with another good idea that Ojo's mom (I think that's who suggested it) came up with, and that is to bring donations to take to IACC, HSI or other shelters that always need stuff. And maybe bring something good to eat for humans. I'm really getting excited about this, cause the cat, bird, bunny, iguana, fish, etc, people can come too! A lot of times it's just the dog people who get to meet each other, and this could include EVERYBODY! I could rent the room myself for a Petlane Open House in conjunction with the IP meet and greet, otherwise we would have to figure out how to pay for it. So, get back with me with your thoughts, ideas, etc, about food, cost, donations, other great ideas, as I will need to firm this up fairly soon. We could do an Open House from 10-12:30 and still have time to clean up and get out.
